The southeast England sports car manufacturer LOTUS balances traditionally between financial crashes and technically brilliant ideas.
After the flop of the front-driven LOTUS Elan, the ever-creative LOTUS technicians opened the very last emergency parachute, the LOTUS ELISE.
The Monocoque made of glued aluminum profile rods and a body made of glass fiber compound material reduces the weight of the LOTUS ELISE with a full tank to breathtaking slender 733 kg.
Just this data seems like the legacy of the brilliant LOTUS founder Colin Chapman, who as a technical extremist introduced the Monocoque means of production and the drive principle into racing sport and made his company in the 60's and 70's the most successful label in the Formula 1.
The body form of the LOTUS ELISE revives that era in which Twiggy was a beauty idol in her Mini skirt.
Even though the LOTUS ELISE could be seen as a mixture of LOTUS 23, Alpine 110, Ford GT 40 and Mc Laren M1, at the millenium it looks as modern as the originals 30 years ago.
Equipment: Aluminum Uniball chassis, closed floor, front and tail diffusor, stainless steel sport exhaust, real carbon equipment, aluminum racing fuel tank, 17 ' aluminum wheels multi-part, fast top, hardtop, racing seats, suspender seat belts
In the beginning of the year 2002, this vehicle was rebuilt onto a Honda Integra motor with modified Motronik and optimized transmission.
